The Dumont is the Santos for a cuff. Thin, flat and quiet, which means the case band is the only thing anyone will judge it by.

The Santos-Dumont is the flat one: a thin case on a strap, built to sit under a cuff, where the Santos is a bracelet watch with a thicker case. It comes in a small 27.5 x 38 mm and a large 31.4 x 43.5 mm, from $399 with shipping included. The small is quartz, which is what keeps it thin; the large movement is confirmed per reference rather than assumed. We photograph the case on a caliper, because one extra millimetre stops it being a cuff watch.
Every other Santos is a bracelet watch. The Dumont is not: it is a flat case on a strap, and its whole argument is that it sits under a cuff without a bump. That makes case-band thickness the first thing to measure and the first thing to get wrong, because a case copied from photographs tends to come out a millimeter thick in the wrong place.
The second tell is the strap bar. On the reference the bars sit close to the case and the strap meets it at a specific angle; when they are set too far out the watch looks like a round case with a leather strap bolted on. The third is the crown, which is small, and shrinks visibly on a copy that borrowed a crown from a larger model.
Movement is where the two sizes differ. The small is quartz, and that is what makes it thin. The large is confirmed per reference rather than assumed, so we state it only when the line states it.
All five are case or strap details. The dial on a Dumont is rarely the problem.
Measured, not quoted. A Dumont that is 1 mm thicker than it should be stops being a cuff watch.
Close to the case, with the strap meeting it at the reference angle. Set out too far and the watch reads as a round case on a strap.
Small on the reference. An oversized crown is usually borrowed from another model in the same family.
Roman numerals and the secret signature. At 27.5 mm every letter is close to the edge, so a soft print shows immediately.
Alligator or calf, with even stitching and a signed buckle. This is a strap watch, so the strap is half the product.
The large size movement is stated per reference; we do not fill it in when the line is silent.

The Santos workshops compete on the bracelet references. The Dumont is a different build and is quoted from one line.
| Line | What it covers here | Where it stands | We quote it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| AF / CR | Both Dumont sizes | The line we quote for this family | Always, for the Dumont |
| BV | Santos case and bracelet | Bracelet work is their strength; the Dumont is not their build | Only if you are choosing a bracelet Santos |
| GF | Santos, balanced finish | Same as above | Only if you are choosing a bracelet Santos |
Case on a caliper, then from the side. On this watch the caliper frame is the whole argument.
The lug area close up, so the strap-bar position and the stitching can both be seen.
Tag, card and case back. Three matching codes or the watch goes back.
The Santos is a bracelet watch with a quick-release system and a thicker case. The Dumont is thinner, sits on a strap and is the dress version of the same design. If you want one watch for everything, take the Santos; if you want a watch for a jacket, take this.
Yes, and that is why it is thin. The large is confirmed per reference rather than assumed.
No. The case is not drilled for the Santos bracelet and the lugs are a different shape. We would not sell you one that does not fit.
Large is 31.4 × 43.5 mm, which wears like a 38 mm round watch because the case is rectangular. Small is 27.5 × 38 mm and is a dress size. Above a 7 inch wrist the small looks like a token.
We state what the line states. If the exact leather matters to you, ask before ordering and we will confirm it for the batch we are quoting.
Two to four days to confirm, seven to twelve days in transit. QC photographs before dispatch.
